Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
