Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
