Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
