Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and arranged cushions 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
