The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ TRULY, to a happy state shall attain the believers: 1 Those who in their prayer are lowly. 2 And who shun vain conversation, 3 And those who pay the Zakat. 4 and who are mindful of their chastity, 5 except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them. 6 But whoso craveth beyond that, such are transgressors - 7 those who are faithful to their trusts and promises; 8 And those who are watchful of their acts of prayer. 9 These will be the heirs, 10 Who will inherit paradise. There they will abide. 11 Verily We created man from a product of wet earth; 12 Then made him a drop of fluid in a secure shelter. 13 Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create! 14 After that, at length ye will die 15 and be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection. 16 And assuredly We created above you seven paths, and of the creation We have not been neglectful. 17 We send down water from the sky in determined measure, and store it up in the earth; and We have power to drain it away. 18 And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat. 19 And a tree that grows out of Mount Sinai which produces oil and a condiment for those who eat. 20 And indeed in the cattle is a lesson for you; We give you to drink what is in their bellies, and there are many benefits for you in them, and in them is your food. 21 and by them - as by the ships [over the sea] - you are borne [overland]. 22
