And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 no caring friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
