A large group from the earlier generations. 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 and under the shadow of black smoke, 43 (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good, 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 Drinking the way thirsty camels drink. 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten – 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 (And say:) "We have fallen into debt; 66 Nay, but we have been deprived [of our livelihood]!" 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who have brought into being the tree that serves as its fuel - or are We the cause of its coming into being? 72 We have made it a reminder, and a blessing to the traveler. 73 Wherefore hallow thou the name of thy Lord, the Mighty. 74
