Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)

۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in a high Garden, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 and no food except pus 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
