The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
