The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
