Alshu'araa' 10 of 11
The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no reward for this. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and cause no loss to others. 181 "And weigh with scales true and upright. 182 do not defraud people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not spread corruption in the land. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)" 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. 186 So cause a piece of the sky to fall upon us if you are truthful." 187 He. said: My Lord is the Best Knower of that which ye work. 188 They rejected him and then the torment of the gloomy day struck them. It was certainly a great torment. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
