The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ A. L. M. 1 The Roman Empire has been defeated- 2 in the nearer part of the land; and, after their vanquishing, they shall be the victors 3 in a few years. To God belongs the Command before and after, and on that day the believers shall rejoice 4 at the victory granted by Allah. He grants victory to whomsoever He pleases. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 5 This is Allah's promise and He does not go back on His promise. But most people do not know. 6 They only know the superficial realities of the worldly life and they are unaware of the life to come. 7 Do they not reflect in their own minds? Not but for just ends and for a term appointed, did Allah create the heavens and the earth, and all between them: yet are there truly many among men who deny the meeting with their Lord (at the Resurrection)! 8 And did they not travel in the land to see what sort of fate befell those before them? They were stronger than them, and they cultivated the land and inhabited it more than them, and their Noble Messengers came to them with clear proofs; so it did not befit Allah’s Majesty to oppress them, but it was they who used to wrong themselves. 9 Then the end of those who committed evil was evil, for they belied the signs of Allah and they were wont to mock at them. 10
