The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
