۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 What, do we then not die 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
