The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
