We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 And We exalted them over the other people knowingly, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Even then they say: 34 “This is our first and only death, and we shall never be raised again. 35 "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba' and those before them whom We destroyed? They were surely sinners. 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
