The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
