The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
