Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
