The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 it will be a hard day 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And children present [with him] 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
