The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 It will be a place of return 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
