Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions lined up 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
