The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
