The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
