At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
