In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
