When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
