The people of Al-Hijr denied Our apostles; 80 for We did vouchsafe them Our messages, but they obstinately turned their backs upon them 81 They hewed their dwellings out of the mountains in safety. 82 Then the shout took hold of them in the early morn. 83 And what they earned did not avail them. 84 We have not created but with reason the heavens and the earth and all that lies within them. The Hour (of the great change) is certain to come. So turn away (from them) with a grace. 85 Indeed your Lord only is the Great Creator, the All Knowing. 86 We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated, and the mighty Koran. 87 Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers. 88 And say: "I am indeed he that warneth openly and without ambiguity,"- 89 Such as We send down for those who make division, 90 Those who made the Quran into shreds. 91 So by your Lord, We will surely question them all 92 For all that they used to do. 93 Promulgate thou that which thou art commanded, and turn away from the associaters. 94 We are surely sufficient to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 Who set some other god along with Allah. But they will come to know. 96 We do indeed know how your heart is distressed at what they say. 97 But hymn the praise of thy Lord, and be of those who make prostration (unto Him). 98 And keep worshipping your Lord, till death* comes to you. (* The certainty.) 99
