[Musa (Moses)] said: "O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness). 25 and make my task easy for me, 26 And loose a knot from my tongue, 27 (That) they may understand my word; 28 Appoint a deputy (for me) from my own people. 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 Increase through him my strength 31 And let him share my task 32 so that we may glorify 33 "And remember You much, 34 You are surely seeing us' 35 He said: You are indeed granted your petition, O Musa 36 And indeed, another time, already We have shown thee favour, 37 "When We inspired your mother with that which We inspired. 38 "'Put him into a chest, then cast it into the river. The river will cast it on to the bank, and there he shall be taken up by an enemy of Mine and his.' I showered My love on you so that you might be reared under My watchful eye. 39 "When your sister went and said: 'Shall I show you one who will nurse him?' So We restored you to your mother, that she might cool her eyes and she should not grieve. Then you did kill a man, but We saved you from great distress and tried you with a heavy trial. Then you stayed a number of years with the people of Madyan (Midian). Then you came here according to the fixed term which I ordained (for you), O Musa (Moses)! 40 for I have chosen thee for Mine Own service. 41 So go forth, both you and your brother, with My Signs, and do not slacken in remembering Me. 42 Go to Pharaoh, for he has waxed insolent; 43 yet speak gently to him, that haply he may be mindful, or perchance fear.' 44 'O our Lord,' said Moses and Aaron, 'truly we fear he may exceed against us, or wax insolent.' 45 Answered He: "Fear not! Verily, I shall be with you two, hearing and seeing [all]. 46 So go to him and say: 'The two of us have indeed been sent by your Lord. So let the children of Israel come with us, and do not oppress them. We have come to you with a token from your Lord. Peace on him who follows the way of guidance. 47 it has been revealed to us that punishment shall overtake him who rejects it and turns away!'" 48 He said: who is the Lord of you twain, O Musa! 49 'Our Lord' he replied, 'is He Who gave everything its creation and then guided it' 50 (The Pharaoh) said: "And what about the former generations?" 51 [Moses] said, "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a record. My Lord neither errs nor forgets." 52 HE IT IS who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has traced out for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, and [who] sends down waters from the sky: and by this means We bring forth various kinds of plants. 53 Eat [therefrom] and pasture your livestock. Indeed, in that are signs for those of intelligence. 54
