AND CALL to mind Our servant Job, [how it was] when he cried out to his Sustainer, "Behold, Satan has afflicted me with [utter] weariness and suffering!" 41 (The command was given:) "Strike with thy foot: here is (water) wherein to wash, cool and refreshing, and (water) to drink." 42 And We bestowed on him (again) his household and therewith the like thereof, a mercy from Us, and a memorial for men of understanding. 43 (We said to him): 'Take a bundle of rushes and strike with it; and do not break your oath' We found him to be patient, a good worshiper and he was penitent. 44 Remember also Our servants Abraham, Isaac and Jacob -- men of might they and of vision. 45 Verily We! We distinguished them with a distinct quality: the remembrance of the Abode. 46 In Our eyes they were of the chosen, virtuous people. 47 And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhul-Kifl, and all are among the outstanding. 48 This was a remembrance. An excellent retreat awaits the God-fearing 49 Gardens of Eternity, whose doors will (ever) be open to them; 50 They will be resting therein and will be able to ask for many kinds of fruit and drink. 51 ۞ with them, they will have pure, modest women of an equal age. 52 Such is the Promise made, to you for the Day of Account! 53 this is Our provision, unto which there is no end.' 54 But the arrogant will have the worst return: 55 they will burn, in Hell, an evil resting place -- 56 This - so let them taste it - is scalding water and [foul] purulence. 57 And other torments, like thereof, conjoined. 58 [And they will say to one another: "Do you see] this crowd of people rushing headlong to join you?" "No welcome to them! Indeed, they are headed for the fire!" 59 They will say: "In fact, it is you who will have no welcome. It is you who brought this upon us. What an evil place of rest!" 60 They say: Our Lord! Whoever did prepare this for us, oh, give him double portion of the Fire! 61 And they will say: 'Why do we not see the men that we counted as being among the wicked in here? 62 Have we taken them in mockery? Or, have our eyes swerved from them?' 63 Verily this is the very truth: the wrangling of the fellows of the Fire! 64
