The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the setting star, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 25
