EXHORT, then, [O Prophet, all men:] for, by thy Sustainer's grace, thou art neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune! 30 Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you' 31 Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people? 32 Do they say, "He has falsely invented it (the Quran)?" In fact, they themselves have no faith. 33 Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 Or is it they who created the heavens and the earth? No; the truth is that they lack sure faith. 36 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the treasurers? 37 Or, do they have a ladder on which they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons? 39 Or is it that you ask of them any recompense so that they should fear to be weighed down under the burden of debt? 40 Or that the Ghaib (unseen) is with them, and they write it down? 41 Or are they contriving a stratagem against you? If so, that stratagem will rebound against the unbelievers. 42 Do they have any god other than Allah? Exalted be Allah above whatever they associate (with Him in His Divinity). 43 If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A mass of clouds," 44 so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb, 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a punishment beyond that. But most of them know not. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad SAW) for the Decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes, and glorify the Praises of your Lord when you get up from sleep. 48 and also celebrate His praise at night, and at the retreat of the stars. 49
