Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a company of the later peoples. 40 But those of the left hand -- how those of the left hand -- 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor refreshing. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 But persisted in that greater sin, 46 And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Proclaim, "Without doubt all - the former and the latter." 49 "They will all be gathered together - on the appointed time of the known day." 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 and will have to fill your bellies therewith, 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 “We have been penalised; 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 Have you considered the water you drink? 68 Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it? 69 If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks? 70 See ye the Fire which ye kindle? 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
