A company of the former peoples 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 Under the shadow of thick black smoke 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 And they used to say, “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we surely be raised again?” 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Say: "Verily, those of olden times and those of later times 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, 60 from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Have you considered the fire which you strike? 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
