Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
