The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
