He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
