He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attended to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
