The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
