Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
