Then said he who believed, 'My people, follow me, and I will guide you in the way of rectitude. 38 O people, the life of this world is ephemeral; but enduring is the abode of the Hereafter. 39 "He that works evil will not be requited but by the like thereof: and he that works a righteous deed - whether man or woman - and is a Believer- such will enter the Garden (of Bliss): Therein will they have abundance without measure. 40 ۞ "And O my people! How (strange) it is for me to call you to Salvation while ye call me to the Fire! 41 you call me to deny Allah and to associate with Him as His partners those regarding whom I have no knowledge (that they are Allah's partners in His Divinity), whereas I call you to the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving? 42 No doubt that what you call me to has no title to be called to in this world, nor in the hereafter, and that our turning back is to Allah, and that the extravagant are the inmates of the fire; 43 You will soon recall what I have told you. I entrust God with my affairs. God is Well Aware of His servants." 44 Then Allah saved him from (every) ill that they plotted (against him), but the burnt of the Penalty encompassed on all sides the People of Pharaoh. 45 In front of the Fire will they be brought, morning and evening: And (the sentence will be) on the Day that Judgment will be established: "Cast ye the People of Pharaoh into the severest Penalty!" 46 And when they shall contend one with another in the fire, then the weak shall say to those who were proud: Surely we were your followers; will you then avert from us a portion of the fire? 47 The arrogant will answer: "All of us are in it. Surely God has judged between His creatures." 48 And they who are in the fire will say to the keepers of hell, "Pray unto your Sustainer that He lighten, [though it be] for one day [only,] this suffering of ours!" 49 They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error." 50
