The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
