The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
