The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
