The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
