The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17

True are the words of God the Almighty.
