The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
