Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
