In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 A DIVINE WRIT has been bestowed from on high upon thee - and let there be no doubt about this in thy heart - in order that thou mayest warn [the erring] thereby, and [thus] admonish the believers: 2 Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians besides Him, how little do you mind. 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 We will question those to whom Our Message was sent, as We shall question the Messengers. 6 Then We shall narrate to them with knowledge the whole account. For surely, We were not away from them. 7 And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful. 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10
