The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah; 2 Who believe in the Unseen, and establish prayer, and out of that wherewith We have provided them expend. 3 who believe in what has been sent down to thee and what has been sent down before thee, and have faith in the Hereafter; 4 they are the people who are rightly following their Lord and it is they who shall be successful. 5 As for those whose fate is disbelief, whether you warn them or do not warn them – it is all one for them; they will not believe. (Because their hearts are sealed – see next verse). 6 God has sealed their hearts and ears, and veiled their eyes. For them is great deprivation. 7
