Did you not see those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah? Where are they being diverted? 69 Those who denied the Book and what We sent with Our Noble Messengers; so they will soon come to know. – 70 when fetters and chains shall be on their necks, and they shall be dragged into 71 and are dragged into burning despair, and in the end become fuel for the fire [of hell]. 72 Then shall it be said to them: Where is that which you used to set up 73 They shall say, 'They have gone astray from us; nay, but it was nothing at all that we called upon aforetime.' Even so God leads astray the unbelievers. 74 (And it is said unto them): This is because ye exulted in the earth without right, and because ye were petulant. 75 Enter [now] the gates of hell, therein to abide: and how vile an abode for all who are given to false pride!" 76 Wherefore persevere thou; verily the promise of Allah is true; then whether We let thee see a part of that wherewith We have promised them, or whether We cause thee to die, unto Us they all will be caused to return. 77 Indeed We sent many Messengers before you: of them there are some whose account We have narrated to you and there are others whose account We have not narrated to you. It did not lie in any Messenger's power to bring any Sign except with Allah's leave. So when Allah's decree came, the matter was decided with justice, and those steeped in error courted utter loss, then and there. 78
